More than a century ago, when it was an El Niño year, San Antonio was one of the Texas cities that got slammed by severe weather. Heavy rain during the final days of November 1913 set the stage for more flooding in the first week of December 1913, which resulted in 180 drownings. The city saw 20 to 25 inches of rain in 15 days.

Thirteen vehicles were swept away early Thursday morning on the northeast side near Northeast Loop 410 and Beitel Creek. At least four people are dead and three are missing in San Antonio, Texas, after floodwaters swept 13 vehicles away early Thursday morning.

The National Weather Service reported about six inches of rain fell by 8 a.m. at San Antonio International Airport, a record for the date and the heaviest rain in one day for the Alamo City in more than a decade.
