The weekend storm broke a daily snowfall record for Negaunee Township, where the Marquette National Weather Service office is located. On Sunday, March 30, 18.9 inches of snow fell in a 24-hour period. This plows through the previous record, set last year, which was 2.8 inches of snow.
A winter storm watch has been issued for the local area by the National Weather Service. The winter storm watch is in effect from this afternoon through Saturday morning. Heavy mixed precipitation possible with total snow accumulations up to one inch and ice accumulations in excess of a quarter inch are possible.
