Photo courtesy of the RSPCA Oct. 27 (UPI) -- Animal rescuers in Britain said they lowered a ladder into a muddy water overflow tank to rescue a fox that became stranded at the bottom.

An important element of ranching is providing livestock with clean drinking water when a natural source is lacking. Water tanks for cattle are especially important during the hot summer months.

June 10 (UPI) -- Conservation officers in New Mexico conducted an unusual rescue when a bear opened the lid of a water tank and climbed in for a swim.

There was little water in the tank — otherwise the bear would have drowned, Game and Fish says. Game and Fish advises that landowners secure water sources to avoid harming wildlife.

The new apparatus was named Ladder 5 and can carry 750 gallons of water as opposed to the city’s engines’ ability to carry 1,000 gallons. Although Ladder 5 is too tall to fit in the apparatus ...
