Meet spotted skunks, "the acrobats of the skunk world." Scientists have discovered that there are more of these species than they thought, according to new research.

The plains spotted skunk is found in East Texas and the Panhandle, and the Western (or desert) spotted skunk roams West Texas, South Texas, and the fringes of Central Texas.

Other skunk species include the smaller and less common spotted skunk, the hog-nosed skunk in the western part of the state, and the hooded skunk of the Big Bend region.
