Live updates: 14,000-acre Mountain Fire spreads into Santa Paula after burning multiple homes
CAMARILLO, Calif. -- Thousands of residents were forced to flee a fast-moving wildfire, called the Mountain Fire, in Ventura County that has already damaged multiple homes. Chris Cristi in AIR7 estimated that at least 40-50 homes have burned from what he could see.
Mountain Fire burns 14,000 acres, destroys homes as flames whip through Somis, Camarillo
A wildfire started in the Somis area on Wednesday morning and tore through 22 square miles by the evening, destroying dozens of homes, sending residents to the hospital and forcing evacuations in Ventura, Camarillo, Santa Paula, Fillmore and points in between.

Mountain Fire initially started 9:41 a.m. Nov. 6 in Ventura County. After being active for 16 hours, it has burned 1,500 acres. At this time, details about the containment of the fire are unknown. The Ventura County Fire Department is on the scene of a fast moving brush fire in near the 7900 block of Balcom Canyon Road and Bradley Road.

The Mountain Fire started just before 9 a.m. in the area of Balcom Canyon Road and Bradley Road in Somis. But with Southern California under a red flag warning, powerful Santa Ana winds kicked up, spreading embers and flames over a vast swath of a populated area within a matter of hours.
