In an FAQ obtained by TechCrunch, PowerSchool confirms it negotiated with the threat actors responsible for the breach.

Area school districts might have been impacted by the cyberattack of a nationwide education software cloud-based platform called PowerSchool, used to store sensitive student data.

The education software vendor said a hacker may have downloaded addresses, social security numbers and medical conditions in December.

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — A cyber security breach affected some of the biggest school districts in Utah. The nationwide breach took student information such as names, addresses, date of birth and email addresses.
