Burke has been working at ESPN since 1990 in various roles including color commentary in men’s and women’s college games, WNBA games, studio work for NBA games, and now calling the 2025 NBA Finals on ABC.

The Athletic reported Doris Burke, who has been with ESPN since 1991, could be removed from the three-person Finals broadcast team.

As ESPN broadcaster Doris Burke's future on the network's top NBA broadcasts is in flux, she has a fierce defender in Indiana Pacers coach Rick Carlisle. Burke's work broadcasting the Oklahoma City Thunder in particular has come under fire as of late after she referred to MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander a "free-throw merchant" on the air.
