Actor union Sag-Aftra has filed a complaint over the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to recreate the voice of Star Wars villain Darth Vader in Fortnite. The union said Llama Productions - a subsidiary of Epic, which makes the hit video game - had chosen "to replace the work of human performers with AI technology".

The union says Epic 'failed and refused to bargain in good faith' while replacing the work of a former member.

The union has now filed an unfair labor practice charge (link to the PDF is on the SAG-AFTRA website) that calls out “ Fortnite ‘s signatory company, Llama Productions” for “ [replacing] the work of human performers with AI technology” without “providing any notice of their intent to do this and without bargaining with us over appropriate terms.”
