West Indies appoint Roston Chase as their new Test captain even though he has not played the format for more than two years.
In a bold and unexpected move, Cricket West Indies (CWI) has appointed Roston Chase as the new captain of the West Indies Test team, with left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican serving as vice-captain.
Chase, who brings experience from 49 Tests and 86 limited-overs internationals, takes over from Kraigg Brathwaite, who stepped down from the role in March 2025.
Left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican was named as Chase's deputy. Shai Hope, the white-ball captain, was the first choice but the wicketkeeper-batter declined to become an all-format captain.
