Michigan State football hit the portal hard for defensive backs during the offseason to try and get back to the "No-Fly Zone" production of the past.
Staying on it was the challenge. The Michigan State defensive tackle and former four-star recruit played the first four games of his true freshman year before being shelved to maintain a redshirt. A season-ending injury followed before the 2023 schedule began.
Entering the NCAA Tournament, Michigan State was given a No. 2 seed. Izzo was able to lead his team past No. 15 Bryant in the first round, No. 10 New Mexico in the second round, and No. 6 Ole Miss in the Sweet 16. Unfortunately, the Spartans were unable to beat No. 1 Auburn.
