SILER CITY, N.C. (WNCN) — A Powerball ticket purchased in Chatham County was one of two big winners in the state over the weekend.

He got the lucky Quick Pick ticket from Arcadia Shell on NC 150 West in Lexington. His ticket matched the numbers on four white balls and the red Powerball to win $50,000. Since he bought a Power Play ticket, his winnings doubled to $100,000 when the 2x multiplier hit.

I kind of didn’t believe it at first! I checked it two or three times!” the lucky player said, according to lottery officials.

A lottery player “had to catch his breath” after he hit the jackpot in North Carolina. Then, he rushed to tell his wife he was getting richer. He invited her to Raleigh, where six-figure prize winners must go to cash in on their lucky N.C. Education Lottery tickets, according to game rules.
