History and Mission - Chesterfield County SC Sheriff's Office
The Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office used to be known as the Chesterfield County Rural Police Commission. Records from the year 1787 list the agency's head as Allen Chapman. He is, presumably, the first sheriff of the county.
James 'JD' Dixon, Sheriff - Chesterfield County SC Sheriff's Office
In 2019, James Dixon successfully ran for and was elected as Sheriff of Chesterfield County. He is the first African-American sheriff in Chesterfield County. James Dixon graduated from Cheraw High School in 1983.

Sheriff James Dixon hired Marc in 2019 as the Lieutenant over training for the Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office. Marc is responsible for keeping up with compliance for the deputies' law enforcement certifications, monthly training, and grant writing for the sheriff's office.
